Barbara Ohuninifa is an author, speaker, and healer devoted to helping Black women reclaim their power, joy, and self-worth. Her transformative work is deeply informed by her personal journey of resilience, including surviving a near-fatal aortic dissection, multiple open-heart surgeries, and a rare pheochromocytoma tumor. Barbara channels these experiences to inspire others to embrace their own paths of healing and self-discovery.
Through her books, workshops, and courses, Barbara addresses the often-overlooked burdens of Ancestral and intergenerational trauma. She empowers Black women to reconnect with the strength and wisdom of their Ancestors while exploring their own beliefs, values, and desires. Her storytelling and creative exercises provide accessible, practical tools for self-love, healing, and transformation.
Her debut book, From Fat, Black, and Unlovable to Beautiful Powerful Love, chronicles her personal transformation and offers guidance for women seeking to reconnect with themselves. Her latest work, Remember Who The F*ck You Are, is a journal and activity book designed specifically for Black women. Through themes like self-nurturing, sensuality, growth, and spiritual connection, this resource helps readers explore their inner power and cultivate a deeper connection with their Ancestral wisdom.
Barbara’s mission is to provide compassionate, actionable resources for Black women to heal from systemic and internalized trauma while embracing the beauty and strength inherent in their heritage.

Beautiful Powerful Love was birthed from a longing to live and to give.
The Beautiful Powerful Love movement began in 2018 as a series of community events celebrating the upcoming release of The Book (released March 2019.) The events were held in partnership with Langston in Seattle, Washington, and were designed to engulf Black women, and our co-conspirators, in culturally relevant performances along with workshops in various healing art forms. The community gatherings offered opportunities to come together and begin to identify that which keeps Black women and our communities unwell.
These events evolved into a movement inspiring Black women to remember how love ourselves.
Our Mission is to empower Black women to confront misogynoir while inspiring personal and community transformation of the African diaspora.
Our Vision is a world where Black women and our families/communities are healed and thriving.
We Believe creative expression and gaining knowledge of self, are potent factors in personal transformation and intergenerational healing.
We Manifest books, digital content, immersive experiences, and community events to inform, inspire, and revitalize Black women.
The inventiveness and resilience of the African diaspora, along with the authentic expression of our true selves, empowers us to free ourselves from the mental shackles of colonialism.
Together, we can heal through joy, beauty, and culture.
